His Early Life and Career
Dandamudi Amar Mohandas was born in India in the year 1961. His father was a civil servant and his mother was a homemaker. Mohandas did his schooling from Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi and then he pursued his graduation in mechanical engineering from the same institute. After his graduation, he started working in Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, Bangalore. He worked there for about four years and then he quit his job to pursue his masters in the United States.
Mohandas completed his masters in mechanical engineering from the University of Texas, Austin in the year 1988. After his masters, he started working in General Motors, Detroit. He worked there for about two years and then he quit his job to pursue his PhD from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. He completed his PhD in the year 1992.

His Contribution to the Indian Space Programme
